Treatment of combined atlantoaxial fractures in the elderly with C1-C2 posterior screw-rod instrumentation

Given that the C1-C2 posterior screw-bar instrumentation has been shown to have good postoperative results in different types of pathologies with age-independent atlantoaxial instability, it is reasonable to think of its potential applicability in the setting of combined atlantoaxial fractures in older adult patients, for whom surgical management has shown to be beneficial.
